The Offa Christian Indigenes Union (OCIU) has marked its 10th anniversary with the donation of 50 bags of rice, groundnut oil, textile materials, and cash to widows in the area.
The union also offered to pay WAEC and one-year school fees for indigent students in the ancient town.
Speaking at the event, the President of the union, Elder Dr. Olusegun Opaleke, said that the purposes of the convention included celebrating the goodness of God in the lives of members as the year 2024 runs out, presenting gifts to widows across churches in Offa, as well as presenting cheques to the selected indigent students across the secondary schools in Offa for the payment of their WAEC fees and one-year school fees.
The union president appealed to all the beneficiaries to make the best use of the donation by the union.
He appreciated the support in both finance and materials which he said the union received from individuals and groups.
Also speaking, the Chairman of the occasion, Special Apostle Samuel Akintayo Akinremi, the immediate past chairman of Offa Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), commended the union for its achievements so far and also appreciated its impacts on people, especially the less privileged.
He said that the union is setting up an example for others to follow.
Special Apostle Akinremi also charged Nigerians to use every position they may find themselves in very well.
He then charged the beneficiaries not to sell the materials donated to them, saying that the school and WAEC fees should not be misused.
Also speaking on the occasion, a special adviser to the union, Engineer Jaiyeola Akinola, who charged Nigerians to do the will of God, added that the nation is in a mess because people do their will and not the will of God.
He added that those taking care of the poor and the less privileged will never lack and advised the union to continue with its humanitarian gesture, saying that they will be rewarded by God.
The Guest Speaker at the occasion, His Royal Majesty Oba Olugbade Alade JP the Arolagbade I, Ajimoleke of Ajimoleke in Oyo State, charged people to use their wealth for the poor, the less privileged, and the widows.
The monarch said that what the union is doing is a selfless service to God and humanity, adding that God will not leave them unrewarded, urging the rich to assist the poor in society.
He described the OCIU as a wealth distributor and enjoined the beneficiaries to emulate the union’s kind gesture.
Other programs featured special prayers, praise worship, and Bible reading that was taken by the Vice Chairman of Offa Local Government, Hon. Chief Mrs. Modupe Jejelola Ajibade.
