According to the state Commissioner for Indigenous artworks, Diaspora, Culture and Tourism, Dr Sally Mbanefo, the state Governor would flag–off a series of tourism sites renovation, rehabilitation and resuscitation agenda geared towards repositioning and enhancement of these sites for global and domestic patronage.
She said “The essence of these strides in the tourism sector acceding to my Governor is to develop the state, empower the youths, generate employment and stimulate wealth”.
Mrs Mbanefo revealed that Anambra State is not only a paragon of tourism, but has the singular luck to have gotten a man at the helms of its affairs who does not only understand the import of tourism perfectly well, but has a good grasp and vision of how he would utilise the tourism potentialities in the state for the benefit of all.
The Commissioner disclosed that ‘Governor Obiano’s tourism vision is honed pointedly to position and re-engineer Anambra State to partake bountifully from the big tourism economy both locally and internationally”.
She said, “Our efforts are not only to project the state as a tourism destination for foreign tourists, but also stimulate the consciousness of tourism in the minds of the indigenes and Nigerians. Hence the conscious and deliberate move at carrying along the community and indigenes in every development act we embark on tourism”.

Mrs Mbanefo revealed that Ogbunike Cave, is a wonderful natural tourism which lies within the tropical rainforest belt and situated in a valley behind the Ogba hills which is accessed by descending into the valley with a lengthy walkway made up of about 317 steps, these steps said to have been constructed by the Anambra State government in the mid 90s have been falling.
According to her, the Governor has decided to make access to the cave pleasurable, smooth and convenient as the 317 steps are not going to be fixed, but the interior of the caves will be made conducive for a pleasurable experience.
“We are going to fix the steps, enhance the environment, rehabilitate the facilities therein and make the caves conducive for the consummation of tourism dream”.
She revealed “Governor Obiano is not leaving any stone unturned at ensuring that quality value is added to every atom of tourism products of the people of Anambra State. He is forging ahead at making sure that the state is a desirable global tourism destination where you, discerning tourism lovers, patrons and investors will be partners in the advancement of tourism economy in the state”.
