A youth group, Coalition of Ondo Youth and Community Organizations (COYCO), said Nigeria needed selfless and exemplary leadership across all tiers and arms of government to turn around the political, economic, and security situation of the country.
The youths also charged Nigerians and the people of Ondo State to elect selfless, patriotic, and people-centered leadership who can transform the state and the country.
This is just as the group unanimously endorsed and called on a philanthropist, High Chief Bamidele Omosehin, as their preferred candidate for national representation in the 2027 general elections in Ondo State.
The leaders of the youth group, community stakeholders, and civil society groups, stated this in Okitipupa, Okitipupa Local Government Area of the state, noting that bad leadership remained the biggest problem in the country and called for leaders who are selfless and willing to sacrifice for the greater good of the state and country.
COYCO emphasized the urgent need for leaders who prioritize service, integrity, and grassroots development, calling on the people to see Omosehin as a model of true leadership.
While speaking, the Convener and Executive Director of COYCO, Comrade Olafeso Oladipupo, disclosed the coalition’s commitment to ensuring youths and communities are represented by selfless and visionary leaders.
He said, “For too long, we have suffered the consequences of ineffective representation. It is time to change the narrative by electing leaders who have consistently demonstrated their commitment to the people—not just in words, but in actions.
“High Chief Bamidele Omosehin has been a beacon of hope, a leader who has invested heavily in the growth of Ondo South without holding any political office. Imagine what he could achieve with a bigger platform to serve.”
He noted Omosehin’s contributions through his foundation, the Bamidele Omosehin Foundation, which has empowered thousands of youths, providing scholarships to students, funding community development projects, and supporting widows and vulnerable groups across Ondo South.
He said COYCO’s endorsement of Omosehin is rooted in a larger call for a shift in governance—one that places the interests of the people above personal ambitions.
The coalition urged youths, community leaders, and progressive stakeholders to align with leaders who embody the principles of patriotism, service, and accountability.
“Patriotism is not just about waving a flag; it is about selfless service, about lifting others, about putting the collective good above individual gain. High Chief Bamidele Omosehin has consistently shown that he is ready to serve the people.
“This is why COYCO proudly endorses him and will mobilize massive support to ensure that Ondo South gets the representation it truly deserves.”
The youth group, however, vowed to lead an extensive grassroots mobilization effort across the six local government areas of Ondo South, to ensure that the voices of the people translate into action at the polls as the 2027 election approaches.
The endorsement of Omosehin by COYCO marks a significant political shift, signaling the readiness of Ondo South to elect leaders who embody patriotism, progress, and selfless service.
