The Federal Government and the Japanese government, as part of move to consolidate and bolster bilateral energy partnerships between the two counties, have come up with solution aimed at enhancing Nigeria’s power infrastructure, to improve grid reliability as well as explore innovative energy solutions.
The Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, who led a high-level Nigeria delegation to Japan on a three-day visit facilitated by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), engaged in comprehensive discussions with Japanese energy leaders and also gained insights into Japan’s power sector evolution, regulatory frameworks, electricity management systems, and market operations.
While the delegation received detailed briefings on how Japan efficiently manages electricity distribution and market operations, it also explored advanced load dispatching mechanisms and grid optimisation strategies that could enhance Nigeria’s power sector reforms.
In the course of the visit, Adelabu held key meetings with Japanese officials to deepen economic and energy collaborations, had a bilateral meeting with the Japanese Parliamentary Vice-Minister of Economy with focus on strengthening sectoral collaborations while he also met with JICA leadership to identify areas of support to accelerate power reforms in Nigeria.
