Niger State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps( NSCDC) has intercepted a heavy-duty motor tanker suspected to be containing adulterated diesel in the Suleja local government area of the state.
The State Commandant, Malam Haruna Bala Zurumi, made the disclosure while parading two suspects before the newsmen in Minna who were arrested for allegedly conveying the product claimed to have been loaded from Port Harcourt, Rivers State capital.
The two suspects, Salisu Idris 45 years of age, who is the driver and Bashir Mohammed 25 years of age, was unable to present the waybill (pass) but presented a paper issued one year ago dated 12th August 2020.
The NECDC’s Boss, Zurumi has directed his operatives to carry out laboratory tests on the sample of the product while the suspects will be charged to court as soon as the investigation is concluded.
He, however, warned members of the public to desist from such illegal acts and dealings in petroleum products or face the full wrath of the law as the command will not relent in its mandates.
