Niger Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago has introduced a pioneering initiative to promote environmental cleanliness and sustainability across the state.
The governor has approved the Niger State Environmental Sanitation and Waste Control Regulations 2025, a comprehensive legislative framework governing environmental sanitation and waste management.
Under these regulations, individuals, properties, and vehicles will be responsible for maintaining cleanliness in their surroundings.
To ensure the initiative’s success, Governor Bago has declared the last Saturday of each month as Environmental Sanitation Day. On these days, there will be restrictions on movement from 7:00am to 10:00am, during which residents will conduct thorough cleaning and ensure safe waste disposal.
This initiative aims to foster a clean and sustainable environment for all Niger State citizens.
Governor Bago’s administration has demonstrated its commitment to sustainability, with the 2025 budget emphasizing agriculture as the cornerstone of the state’s economy while promoting rapid socio-economic development.
