The newly constituted seventh Governing Council of the Federal College of Education (Technical), Akoka-Lagos, has stated its readiness to give priority to staff welfare during its tenure.
The council chairman, Mr Adamu Muazu, made this known during the staff congregation with the new council, held recently on the school premises.
Adamu noted that there were backlog of establishment issues from the previous administration; hence, their first assignment would be to clear the backlog.
He also noted the imperativeness of attending to staff‘s welfare toward the speedy achievement of the mission and vision of the school.
“The council is populated by technocrats, academicians and technicians. We have all the necessary expertise to carry this college to the next level.
“The council has its own responsibility which is essentially for general management and policy direction. The relevant laws stated clearly the responsibility of the council.
“One of our priorities is to ensure that the welfare of all the staff of this college is catered for.
“We understood that there are backlogs of establishment issues due to the gap we had from the previous council. This is our first assignment,” Adamu said.
He assured that the new council would look into the issue of establishment, while appealing to the staff of the institution to rededicate themselves to the service of the college, adding “we want your cordial relationship with the management to remain.
While he encouraged them to direct all attention to students, he said: “As teachers, we should make sure that all our efforts revolve around the students. The students are the reason why we are all here. We will work day and night to ensure your welfare.”
