The Board and Management of the North-East Development Commission (NEDC) have reaffirmed their commitment to rebuilding the insurgency-ravaged North-East subregion and restoring normalcy to the lives of its people.
The Chairman of the Board, Major General Paul Tarfa (retired), made this statement on Thursday during a courtesy visit to the Palace of the Emir of Bauchi, Dr. Rilwanu Suleiman Adamu, to express their appreciation for his fatherly support.
Paul Tarfa highlighted that in the past four years, the pioneer Board and Management of the Commission have made significant progress in reviving all aspects of life for those who were adversely affected by the activities of insurgents. He further assured, “We have accomplished a great deal in the past, and we will continue to do more for the people. Our mandate is to rebuild the subregion, and we are actively pursuing it.”
The NEDC Board Chairman guaranteed that the Commission would take care of schools, hospitals, and other essential services to facilitate the return of normalcy to the subregion.
Paul Tarfa also requested the continuous support of everyone, especially the traditional institutions that have earned respect and loyalty from their subjects over the years.
In response, the Emir of Bauchi, Dr. Rilwanu Suleiman Adamu, praised NEDC for bringing hope to the people of the North-East subregion, considering the devastation caused by insurgent activities over the years.
The Emir emphasized that “NEDC has become the hope of the people. It has made life more meaningful and has restored existence to the entire subregion. The people are truly feeling the positive impacts of the Commission.”
He particularly commended NEDC for the significant development it has brought to Bauchi State, describing it as a tremendous achievement.
According to the traditional ruler, “Your performance was so good that it led to your reappointment. I urge you to maintain the momentum in order to surpass what you have achieved during your first tenure.”
