The National Directorate of Employment (NDE) in Kwara State has conducted an orientation exercise for 100 intending beneficiaries of the Sustainable Agricultural Development Training Scheme (SADTS) for the 2022 round of graduate beneficiaries.
In the same vein, the directorate has also disbursed the sum of N100,000 each as loans to 138 beneficiaries who participated in the training on Graduate Agricultural Empowerment Scheme (GAES), Sustainable Agricultural Development Empowerment Scheme (SADES), Community Based Agricultural Empowerment Scheme (CBAES) and Agricultural Enhancement Scheme (AES).
Speaking during the two-week training programme in Ilorin on Wednesday, the NDE state coordinator, Engineer Aba Omachoko Timothy, said the training curriculum is structured to include major areas of modern agricultural production such as crop farming, livestock production, vegetable production, horticulture, marketing strategy and agripreneural training.
Engineer Aba, who said that agriculture is the bedrock of the present day Nigeria for food proficiency, added that every region in the country is blessed with one agric produce or the other.
The state coordinator enjoined the beneficiaries to form a cooperative of like minds after the two-week training programme as an exit strategy of the scheme, saying that the step would assist them in accessing NDE loans when there is a window for it.
He also said that the training programme could afford them a guaranteed future when they practise the knowledge garnered.
Engineer Aba said the concept of the training scheme includes hard work, punctuality, dedication and commitment to the training exercise.
He also said that the outline was in addition to the life skills, lecture tips and business-plan preparation methodology that were imparted during the course of the training.
One of the beneficiaries, Mr Ishola Ogungbesan, thanked the state coordinator and the NDE team for organising such a content-filled training programme throughout the 36 states of the federation including, Abuja.
He expressed optimism that the training tips gathered would serve as a life-changing opportunity.
