National Hydro Electric Power Producing Areas Commission N-HYPPADEC has pledged to provide solar street lights and a borehole for Bina community in the Lapai local government area of Niger.
The Commission’s Director of Operations, Engineer Iliyasu Abdullahi Wara made the promise in an exclusive interview with the newsmen after listening to a bitter complaint from the community representatives, saying that the illumination of the community (light) with solar energy will provide security for the residents, especially at night.
Engnr. Abdullahi Wara who spoke on behalf of the N- HYPPADEC Managing Director, Alhaji Abubakar Sadiq Yelwa further revealed that the borehole is an intervention to provide clean portable drinking water to the people of the community.
According to him, this year 2024, the community of Bina in Lapai LGA of the State will be captured by the commission to benefit from intervention of solar street lights and a borehole as part of their mandate to provide succour to the commission’s communities.
Responding, the Dagacin Bina community, Alhaji Mohammed Umar Bina applauded the management of N-HYPPADEC for the unexpected kind gesture in ameliorating the suffering of the people who were lacking such basic amenities of life over the years however, thanked the commission for the intervention.
It could be recalled that Bina community has been suffering from acute shortage of clean potable drinking water and for domestic needs over the years since the break down of the two boreholes, thereby the residents have continued to depend on well water or brooks for their livelihood.
