He gave his evidence thus: “My lord, my wife has consistently brought me ill luck and has ruined my life.

“I went for the money few weeks later and discovered it had been stolen. My wife and son were also nowhere to be found. They disappeared from home for three days without leaving a word about their whereabouts. It was alfa, a friend of mine who later told me my wife came to his place to confess to him she was the one who took the money and that she wanted to invest it in her business.
“When I demanded that she returned it, she told me it mistakenly dropped into the sanitary tank when she went to the toilet.
“Though furious, I tried not to beat her. My friend and I removed the slab covering the sanitary tank and searched for the money without any success.
I, thereafter, reported her to her parents’.
“I was denied visa at the end of the day, ”the plaintiff said.
“My wife moved out of my house to her mum’s place because of the strain in our relationship and was there for months.
“While moves to reconcile us were being made, she confessed to me she slept with a man who gave her N6, 000 when she was in dire need of money. She pleaded that I forgive her and I did.
“She moved back to my place but our relationship was not stable because she kept moving in and out of my house.
“I took a new wife as a result of this and she never ceased to threaten her. On a number of times she threatened she would die during child birth and this eventually happened.
“My lord, she later took to soiling my name by telling who ever cared to listen I used her for ritual purpose.
“We fought because of this and she packed out of my house again, “he added.
“My lord, she instigated our children against me and she came with them to destroy my property. They poured salt and water into my generator and destroyed my furniture.
“She and our children held me down and poured alligator pepper into my eyes, “Mustapha concluded.
“He’s an ingrate and a liar, “Khadjat stated.
“I connected him with my friend’s husband’s based in Saudi Arabia when he was seeking greener pasture but he’s now repaying me with divorce. He lied that I stole his money. He was actually duped and his plan to travel out of the country was aborted.
“It’s a lie that I and our children beat him; he’s the one who turned me into a drum he beats every day. He started beating me early in our marriage and didn’t stop even when I was carrying our babies.
“I’m also not ready to stay a minute longer in our marriage, “the defendant stated.
After he had listened to the couple, Agbaje adjourned the case till August 8, and ordered that the couple appear in court with their children and parents before judgment is given.
