A 42-year-old man, Nurudeen Salami, on Tuesday appeared before an Ebute Meta Chief Magistrates’ Court for allegedly causing the death of a female street hawker.
Salami, a resident of No. 4, Ololade Road, Ado-Ajah, whose plea was not taken, is standing trial on a count charge of murder.
Chief Magistrate O.O. Olatunji, ordered the accused to be remanded at the Ikoyi Prison.
Olatunji also ordered that the case file be duplicated and a copy sent to the Director is Public Prosecutions for legal advice.
He adjourned the case until Aug. 28 for the mention.
The prosecutor, Insp. Oladele Adebayo had told the court that the offence was committed on July 14 at 10.10p.m at Lekki-Epe Expressway, Ajah.

Adebayo said that the accused caused the death of the girl, whose identity was still unknown.
“The deceased had stoned the accused on the forehead; in a bid to catch up with her, she ran into an oncoming vehicle which knocked her down,” the prosecutor said.
Adebayo said that the offence contravened Section 223 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015 which attracts death sentence on conviction.
