The defendant, who resides at Idu Gbagyi Karmo, is standing trial on a three-count charge of a joint act, causing grievous hurt and membership of an unlawful society.
The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges levelled against him.
The prosecutor, Zannah Dalhatu, told the court that Isaac Bassey and Oko Clement, of same address with the defendant, reported the matter at the Karmo Police Station, Abuja, on Dec. 3, 2017.
“The complainants said that on that same date, while they were celebrating their end of the year Ogoja Association party within their compound, the defendant and one other person, now at large, invited their cult members.
“They inflicted injury on Bassey’s nose and stabbed Clement in his hand, shoulder and back, of which they incurred a medical bill of N40, 000,’’ he said.
Dalhatu said that the offences contravened Sections 79, 248 and 97 of the Penal Code.
The judge, Alhaji Abubakar Sadiq, granted the defendant N20, 000 bails with one surety in like amount and adjourned the case until Feb. 7, for hearing. (NAN)
