A man who made frantic attempt to illegally purchase a gun has been arrested by operatives of the Operation Safe Delta (OSD) in Warri, Delta State.
The suspect, one Francis Nwabueze, was picked up on Saturday at Marine Quarters in the heart of Warri, Warri South Local Government Area by OSD operatives led by CSP Eyoh Anietie.
Nwabueze was said to have called a prominent citizen (name withheld) through his mobile phone, requesting how he could purchase a gun.
The prominent citizen who suspected a foul play reportedly interrogated Nwabueze on what he wanted the gun for but he was unable to marshall plausible reasons.
He was said to have swiftly ended the call and barred the repeated calls of Nwabueze and informed the police.

It was gathered that while acting on the tip-off, CSP Anietie and his men swung into action and tracked the suspect on the phone before he was arrested.
Meanwhile, the Delta State Commissioner of Police, CP Mohammed Hafiz Inuwa, confirmed the report to journalists in Warri.
“What happened was that he called someone telling him that he wanted to buy a gun.
“So, we intercepted him via their conversations. We went after him. You know going after them is a painstaking issue. It happened since last week.
“So, we just started trailing him. At the end of it all, our men stormed his compound today and arrested him.
“He is in the hands of Operation Safe Delta. I think they are even taking him to Asaba now. We will interrogate him to know what he is up to.”
