A scrap collector in Benin City, Edo State,has lost his life in a car accident that occurred on Ekenwan Road in the ancient city.
The middle-aged scrap collector, who was identified as Ali Abubakar, was said to have been crushed by an Audi car marked GUE 234 LV with the learner’s sign attached to it.
He reportedly died on the spot as his head was smashed against the vehicle’s windscreen.
Ali’s body was lying in a pool of his blood with cloth used to cover his face when journalists visited the spot.
An eyewitness said Ali was hit while trying to cross the road.
The policemen at the scene refused to comment on the incident.
