As the leadership crisis rocking the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP lingers on, some members of the party in the House of Representatives have dissociated themselves from the endorsement of the Senator Ahmed Makarfi-led National Caretaker committee of the party by the party caucus in the House.
Speaking with newsmen in Abuja yesterday, on the purported endorsement of the party’s caucus after the court of Appeal judgment in Port-Harcourt, the member representing Ijebu North/East/Ogun waterside, Hon Adekoya Adesegun Abdel-Majid described the claim as laughable and false. The lawmaker declared that rather, the claim was opposite as majority of the members in the chambers of the National Assembly were in full support of the reinstated National Chairman of the party, Senator Alimodu Sheriff. According to him, “to majority of us in the House of Representatives, we are very surprised to read that, we endorsed Senator Ahmed Makarfi as the National Chairman of our great party.”
To put the record straight, there was no where such endorsement took place, we were never consulted, such an endorsement must be personal opinion to the author of that statement.”
“The truth of the matter is that majority of us are for Senator Alimodu Sheriff, and if you want to prove me wrong let us do head counting and the result will be overwhelming. Majority of our colleagues will stand for Sheriff anywhere anytime.”
“So, for anybody to come out to say that we endorsed Senator Makarfi, it is not only false but embarrassing, I am representing the Ijebu nation here in National Assembly and I don’t want to be linched when I get back home because my people are in full support of him, Hon Olamide Johnson Oni here with me is from Ekiti State he is 100 percent Sheriff and many of us like that.”
