He said this at the second session of the third synod of the diocese recently.
He described as futile the efforts of past and present war on corruption.
Adeyemo, who delivered the charge at the Cathedral Church of St. Paul, Omu-Aran spoke on the theme, A Curse is not Without Cause,” noted that curses were clogs in the progress of any man.
He added that “Nigeria is under the heavy yoke of curses through the shedding of innocent citizens’ blood. I implore all to pray for the healing and deliverance of Nigeria.
“Our leaders have not got the best way to fight and win corruption. The electorate are at the mercy of the elected officers; religion is practised at the expense of the citizens’ lives,” he stated.
He lamented the menace of herdsmen on farmlands, and called for concerted efforts to address the situation.
He called on leaders to examine the institutions and structures put in place to curb corruption, stating that “if Nigeria will be a land free of oppression, and where justice, peace and love will reign, then our leaders must promote the fear of God, respect for human lives and integrity.”
He advocated making governance at all levels less financially attractive, allowing economic and political restructuring, while putting religion in its own perspective.
