Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Adegoke Fayoade, has commended protesters for conducting themselves peacefully in the ongoing protest against the government.
This is just as protesters at the Gani Fawehinmi Freedom Park have refused to confine themselves to the park.
The Lagos police boss also appealed to the protesters to continue to be law-abiding and assured them that the police would continue to protect them as long as they remained orderly.
While speaking with newsmen at the Ojota venue of the protest, the police boss expressed his satisfaction with the process so far.
CP Fayoade said, “The protest has been going on peacefully in most places visited around the metropolis, as people have been conducting themselves well.”
He added that “the protesters need to be orderly, as the security agencies are there to protect the interests of everyone.”
Meanwhile, the protesters have refused the pleas from security operatives to limit their activities to within Freedom Park.
The protesters scattered themselves along the BRT lane in Ojota, despite resistance from security agencies who were stationed at the venue.
Apart from the Freedom Park demonstration, another group of protesters also gathered in Alausa to protest against government policies.
The Nigerian Tribune also observed patrol activities by men of the Nigeria Police Force, the Nigerian Army, and the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps in many parts of the Lagos metropolis.
