Now, at the just concluded men’s basketball tournament in Tunisia, Nigeria put up a spectacular performance as the defending champions, narrowly losing out to hosts Tunisia in the final.
Although a back-to-back victory would have thrown the nation into ecstasy, the fact that the D’Tigers reached the final of the continental tournament brought great pride to Nigeria. What is more, Nigeria produced the Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the torunament.
Nigeria is a powerhouse in African and global football, but it is a great thing that it is asserting itself in other sports. I urge well-meaning Nigerians to continue showing the D’Tigers love and support.
The Federal Government, which treated the D’Tigress very nicely, should also reward the D’Tigres very handsomely for their efforts. They have done the nation proud and deserve all the accolades that might come their way.
