The Kogi State Government has completed the upgrading of the Zonal Hospital Idah, into a Specialist status to serve as one of the planned Renal Dialysis Centers across the State.
The Kogi State Commissioner for Health, Hon Saka Haruna Audu, disclosed this in a statement he signed and made available to journalists, on Thursday, in Lokoja.
The Commissioner said that the Civil work at the zonal hospital had been completed with the commencement of the deployment of the required medical equipment to the hospital.
He added that the Hospital which is located in the Eastern Senatorial district of the state, would now serve as one of the five planned Renal Dialysis Centers across the state.
“With great sense of fulfilment, we are happy to inform the general public that Civil work at the Zonal Hospital Idah has been completed and we have commenced deployment of medical equipment.
“The hospital will now serve as one of the planned Renal Dialysis Centers across the state.
“This implies that under the leadership of Alhaji Yahaya Bello, Kogites will now be able to access Services at five different Renal Dialysis Centers across the state,” he said.
The Commissioner recalled that in 2016 when Governor Yahaya Bello, took over the mantle of leadership, Kogi State had no state owned Dialysis Center.
He, therefore expressed his happiness over the completion of total overhauling of the facility at the hospital, which according to him, was a deviation from the norm that used to be.
“We will like to use this opportunity to appreciate Alhaji Yahaya Bello, for his unwavering determination to change the narrative in the provision of quality Health care services in Kogi State.
“Chosing the ancient city of Idah as one of the designated Nephrology Centres is both delightful and strategic!
“We will leave no stone unturned in ensuring that the aspirations of His Excellency for Kogi State in the Health Sector becomes a palpable reality for all to see,” Audu said.
The Kogi State Government is currently building two massive Infectious Disease Hospitals; one in Ajaokuta and in Kogi LGA, in addition to the Ultra Modern Referral Centre Okene that is arguably the best hospital in Nigeria.
The State Government is also revamping the existing health facilities, like the Specialist Hospital, Lokoja, and Teaching Hospital Anyigba, and the General Hospital Isanlu.
