THE Throne Room Parish of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), at the weekend, put smiles on the faces of the people of Katampe II community, Mpape, a suburb of Abuja when it donated borehole and other items to the people in the area.
The borehole, which was commissioned yesterday by the Senior Pastor of the Parish, holding at the Transcorp Hilton Hotel in Abuja, Pastor Tunde Benjamin, was built by the Parish, in collaboration with the Fountain of Grace, Boston, United States of America (USA).
Food items and clothing were provided, in large number for the people in the community and doctors and other medical experts were on ground, during the programme to treat sick members in the area, who came out in their hundreds.
Earlier, Pastor Emmanuel Mulero, who led a delegation of the leadership of the church on a courtesy visit to the Village Head of the community, Esu Zaka Baba said the church is worried about the scarcity of water in the area and thus, the donation of a borehole to provide potable water for the community.
He said, part of what the church will give back to the community, which was carefully selected, through the grace of God, was doctors and medical experts that were brought to render medical services to the people, distribution of raw food and clothing shipped from abroad.
According to Pastor Mulero, the essence of what the RCCG is doing in the community is to show the love of God to people, by contributing to the improvement of the living standards of the people.
Speaking shortly after the commissioning of the borehole, the Senior Pastor of the throne room parish of the church, Pastor Tunde Benjamin said the project was a demonstration of love, adding that the church had put smiles on the faces of several communities in Abuja.
“It is our culture to impact positively on the lives of people, both spiritually and materially”, he said and added that the project was funded jointly by members of the parish and a sister church in Boston, USA.
In his remarks, the Village Head, Esu Zaka Baba expressed gratitude to the RCCG and added that the community will continue to be grateful to the church for the show of love.
The Esu promised to take adequate care and proper maintenance of the borehole.
Some of the beneficiaries who spoke to newsmen thanked the leadership of the throne room parish of the Redeemed Christian Church of God for the gesture.
