Security operatives have arrested some members of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) who came to support their leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, who is facing terrorism and treasonable felony charges at the Federal High Court in Abuja.
The self-acclaimed IPOB leader was alleged to have jumped bail and travelled outside the country after soldiers were alleged to have attacked his home in Abia State.
Some of the arrested IPOB members, putting on Jewish apparel were chanting songs in support of Kanu and demanding his freedom.
Kanu’s counsel, Ifeanyi Ejiofor, had, on Sunday, warned Kanu’s supporters not to come close to the court premises, or wear the secessionist clothes.
Meanwhile, the trial Judge, Justice Binta Nyako, has resumed sitting but Kanu is yet to be brought into the courtroom.
Two foreigners who are guests at Treasure Suites, a hotel located directly opposite the Court were also arrested for allegedly taking pictures of the court premises from their hotel balcony.
The foreigners, who were white and assumed to be Americans by police officers at the scene, were taken away in a white Toyota Hilux vehicle by DSS agents and police officers.
