KANO State Police Command has said that within three weeks, 33 cases of suspected rape cases were received by the Command, 25 of which have been charged to court for prosecution.
The image maker of state Police Command, DSP Abubakar Haruna, made the disclosure in a statement signed, a copy of which was made available on Thursday to newsmen. He said eight cases of alleged rape were still under investigation.
According to him, those involved in the rape cases which include, Imrana Abdullahi of Kabuga Qtrs Kano, Isyaku Amadu of Dawakin Tofa LGA, Abubakar Hudu of Kachako Village Takai LGA, Bashir Sale of Sharada Qtrs, Ilyasu Abubakar of Haye Qtrs and Ibrahim Isa of Yankaba Qtrs, all in Nassarawa Qtrs Kano, Ibrahim Isa of Sauna Qtrs have been charged for to court.
He hinted that all the suspects confessed to have sexually assaulted or harassed their victims.
Commenting on their arrest, the image maker said on May 12, 2019, a piece of credible information was received from a good Samaritan that one Abdullahi Musa a.k.a. Bigi, of Brigade Qtrs Kano and SabiuAdamu a.k.a. Dandunguluma of Dandago Qtrs are members of a notorious gang of armed robbers terrorising Kano metropolis.
He disclosed that they were promptly arrested and during the investigation, they led detectives to the arrest of Umar Yahaya of Hotoro Qrts, Nuhu Abdullahi a.k.a. Matasa of Zangon Dakata Qtrs, Abdullahi Dahiru and Adamu Mohammed all of Open Camp Prison Kaduna State, who were active members of the syndicate.
He said one pump action rifle, one Barretta English Pistol, one locally made Pistol, one English made Pistol, seven rounds of 9mm live ammunition, 15 rounds of live cartridges and three sharp knives were recovered at their hideout., noting that investigation is going on to arrest the fleeing members of the syndicate.
The statement, however, said that on May 12, 2019, at about 19:40hrs, one Bashir Yahaya of Kabuga behind Badala Qtrs Kano was promptly arrested for attempting to rape a female victim but when she resisted he stabbed her on the neck at her place of work along Sabon Titin Mandawari Kano City.
The suspect also used the same knife and inflicted injuries on the hand and forehead of a good Samaritan who offered to rescue the victim, and while the suspect was arrested, he confessed to the crime after an exhibit of a knife was recovered. He will soon be charged to court for prosecution.
He further revealed that raid of criminal hideouts and black spots continues across the state, several suspects were arrested and charged to court for prosecution. while about 25 suspects recently arrested at various black spots are still undergoing investigation.
A small number of hard drugs including dried leaves of Indian hemp, solution, suck and die, diazepam, codeine, tramadol tablets and weapons such as nine cartons of cutlasses, two sacks containing knives, criminal charms,  one local iron cutter, one hammer, sticks, sword and others were recovered. All the suspects were arrested with either of the exhibit mentioned above, promised that they would be charged to court as soon as investigation is completed.
His words: “Four suspected car thieves were arrested in the state. they are Dahiru Jibrin of Ladanai Qtrs Kano, Salisu Audu of Maiduguri BornoState, Sabiu Lawan of Lafiya, Nassarawa State and Abubakar Yusuf of Jos, Plateau State.
He, however, added that all these are notorious car thieves that specialise in unlocking any car door.
He also said that four motor vehicles were recovered from them during the course of their investigation, adding that the recovered vehicles will be handed over to their rightful owners, while investigations continue to arrest more members of their syndicates, recover more stolen property and charge them to court for prosecution.
DSP Haruna also informed that on 9th and 12th May 2019, the duo of Ibrahim Labaran of Tamburawa Village and Isyaku Ya’u Ibrahim of Tsakuwa Village all  in Dawakin Kudu LGA criminally conspired, broke into Kano State Government owned Tamburawa Water Treatment Plant and stole 400 litres of diesel valued  N92,000 meant for supplying water to the populace in the State.
They confessed to the commission of the crime which they have been doing for long. They were arrested at a hideout of one Ya’u Abdullahi of Kofar Arewa, Dawakin Kudu LGA who is a notorious receiver of stolen properties in the area. The investigation is in progress and they will be charged to court for prosecution, the Police image maker said.
