Kano State Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje has announced the refunding of intending pilgrims who could not perform hajj operation due to COVID-19 in 2019.
Ganduje added that those who want their money to be with the State Pilgrims Welfare Board for future use will also be taken care of.
He made the disclosure on Monday, when the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) led by the Executive Chairman/Chief Executive Officer of the Commission, Zikirullah Kunle Hassan, paid a courtesy visit to the governor in the state government house.
According to him, Kano is home to NAHCON, this is because historically Kano is the nucleus of Hajj Commission in the country.”
However, after reminding of how Kano people were going to hajj on horseback, he assured that “The state will continue to work hand-in-hand with the commission all the time.”
Hassan further described and commended Kano for being a state with the best Pilgrims Welfare Board in the country, and vowed to make hajj more affordable to Muslims in the country.
He assured the commission’s commitment towards working very closely with the state government to improve pilgrims welfare, adding that, “Kano is key to us when it comes to Hajj operation in the country.”
