Kaduna’s Sultan Bello Mosque resumes Juma’at prayer today

SULTAN Bello Mosque, Kaduna, has acquired three disinfectant machines as part of measures to safeguard worshippers from coronavirus infection and help in restoring the mosque to safe and beneficial use for the ummah.

The Chief Imam of the mosque, Sheikh Mohammed Suleiman Adam, who made the disclosure in an interview, said the machines would be placed at three entrances of the mosque which, according to him, will be open for Juma’at prayer today.

He explained that a number of measures had been introduced to keep the congregation safe, including the fumigation of the entire mosque and its surroundings.

He noted, however, that only three of the mosque’s eight gates, where the disinfectant machines are installed, would be kept open for now.

“Every worshipper must pass through one of the machines to prove that he is healthy and eligible to enter the mosque.

“Also, as part of the safety measure, we have purchased temperature kits, hand sanitiser and soap,” he said.

According to him, worshippers are expected to have performed ablution from home and come to the mosque wearing face masks and carrying their prayer mats.

“We have demarcated the mosque to observe the rule of distancing. To this effect, before the coronavirus pandemic, we used to have about 25,000 worshippers to observe the Friday prayer in the mosque but now with Covid-19, we will not have more than 2,000 worshipers,” he added.

The Chief Imam pleaded with worshippers to conduct themselves in ways that comport with established rules and be patient once the mosque is closed.
