The Dean of Student affairs, Leadcity University, Ibadan, Dr Ayobami Owolabi has advised youths to have a strong strategic thinking or leadership capabilities in other to achieve success in life .
Owolabi added that if one can identify the problem he or she has such person have to deal with it before it gets to him or her .
He said this during the annual public lecture organised by the Leadcity Voices , Leadcity University, Ibadan and held at the International Conference Center, Leadcity University, Ibadan on Wednesday.
Speaking on the topic, ‘Building an Effective Networking’ Owolabi explained that networking is a critical skill in sales, business development and other industries in human endeavours.
Speaking on the importance of the topic, Owolabi who was the guest speaker at the event noted that as students and youths there is need to build connections with others to help one’s career.
Adding that networking is one of the relationship skills of any professional .
He noted that in a bid to build a strong and effective network, “one must invest in him or her self, join an activity group such as association, club and church , stay away from dishonour ,
build trust and as well have a strategic thinking or leadership.”
The event also witnessed panel sessions with speakers including,Staff adviser Leadcity University , Anjola Robbin, head of marketing, Leadcity University,Deborah Adejobi ,A business Consultant and Entrepreneur,Segun Ajasa , Digital Marketer and Faculty Manager of Law, Leadcity University,Oyinlola Owoeye who all spoke on the importance of networking to the real world.
In her speech the president Leadcity Voices, Inikpi Amodu explained that the topic was chosen because of the importance and opportunities of networking in the real world .
She said “It is my honor to welcome you to the Lead City Voices annual public lecture 2022/2023 on the Importance of networking in the real world.
“As we all know, networking has become a vital skill in today’s fast-paced and competitive world.
“As students, we often focus on academic achievements, which are undoubtedly important, but networking is equally critical.
“Building a professional network can help us establish valuable connections, gain access to opportunities, and learn from the experiences of others.
“Whether it’s finding a job, starting a business, or pursuing a career, networking can open doors that might otherwise remain closed”, she noted.
She however advised students to build networks that will help them achieve goals and create a brighter future for themselves.
