A man, Ademola Balogun, recently appealed to Oja Oba/ Mapo Court C Customary Court, Ibadan, Oyo State, to end the wedlock between him and his wife, Fausat Balogun.
Ademola alleged that his wife, apart from being dirty, was a liar.
He added that his wife turned him into laughing stock in their neighbourhood as a result of her promiscuous lifestyle.
The plaintiff explained that his wife was having an illicit relationship with someone in their neighbourhood.
Ademola further stated that Fausat sold all the chicken, he without his consent and kept the proceeds from them away from him.
According to the plaintiff, the defendant failed to give him and their three children the required attention and thus asked that the court separate them.
Fausat admitted to claim.
The defendant accused his husband of infidelity.
Fausat explained that her husband was in the habit of bringing his lovers to their home.
Ademola, giving her evidence said: “My lord, I’m tired of my wife. Fausat has made our marriage to fail. She has become a thorn in the flesh and made my life hell.
“People no longer have respect for me in our neighbourhood because they know that another man is sleeping with my wife.
“I once trailed Fausat to her lover’s house and met him romancing her.
“I fought with her lover and would have killed him but for the timely intervention of his neighbours,” Ademola stated.
He added: “My wife is a liar. My lord, if Fausat tells you a thing is white, then you must know it is as black as charcoal.
“She has failed to be a good example to our children who have started imbibing her indecent lifestyle.
Ademola further stated that “Fausat lacks the ability to run the home well. She’s too dirty for my liking.
“She leaves our clothes and cooking utensils unwashed and the house looking untidy and the whole place smelling.
“I have complained about this to no end, but my wife has refused to change.
“My lord, Fausat did the unpardonable when she sold all the chicken I was breeding without my knowledge and kept the proceeds from them.
“We have fought over this but she refused to release to me my money.
“My lord, I entreat this court to help retrieve my money from her and separate us. Our marriage no longer appeals to me.
“I further earnestly pray for the custody of our three children whom she has no time for,” the plaintiff pleaded.
Wife’s response
“My lord, I agree that my husband and I go our different ways. I got pissed off with our relationship because it has failed to work,” Fausat said in response.
“It is sad that my husband could accuse me of infidelity when the only thing he knows to do is to run after anything in skirt.
“He not only chases after these women, he brings them to our home to sleep with them.
“I have tolerated him this long because I didn’t want our children to suffer.
“Ademola has no respect for me or my feelings. He treats me like a rag to be used and dumped somewhere in the house.
“I’m tired of not having a say in the home.
“I once moved out of his house with our children but he came begging and promising to change.
“I decided to give him another chance, believing that he would change, but he messed up this opportunity.
“My lord, I’m through with Ademola. As a matter of fact, I have started dating another man who pampers and treats me well. This man I plan to marry.
“I plead that the custody of all our children be awarded me. Ademola can’t take care of them. He has no time for them.
Giving his judgment after hearing both parties, the court president, Chief Ademola Odunade, stated that more evidence would be needed.
He thus adjourned the case and asked both to come with their children and family members.
