I was in the hospital a few days ago with complaints of fever, headache and joint pains only for the doctor to diagnose Typhoid Fever. It was the same diagnosis I got from another doctor who treated me two weeks ago. Kindly let me know if this is truly Typhoid Fever.

Typhoid diagnosis involves a doctor assessing symptoms (high fever, headache, stomach pain, fatigue) and travel history, confirming with lab tests that look for the Salmonella Typhi bacteria in blood, stool, or urine cultures, which are the standard methods, though rapid tests and antibody detection (like the Widal test, though less specific) are also used, especially in resource-limited areas.
Blood cultures work best early on, while stool/urine cultures become positive later in the illness.
