THE people of Ikoyi-Ekiti in Ikole Local Government Areas of Ekiti State have continued to celebrate the impactful contributions of a prominent community leader, Chief Gbenga Aluko, whose philanthropic initiatives are transforming lives and driving development across the area.

Chief Aluko, who is the Sarede of Ikoyi Kingdom, has earned widespread commendation for his commitment to improving the wellbeing of residents through sustainable and people-centred interventions.

His efforts, particularly on renewable energy, have enhanced both security and economic activities in the community.

One of his notable achievements is the installation of solar-powered streetlights across the community. The initiative has brought illumination to previously dark areas, improving night-time visibility, boosting local commerce, and reducing security concerns among residents.

Community members have also praised his thoughtful outreach to the elderly through the distribution of home solar lighting systems.

The initiative has ensured that vulnerable individuals, especially senior citizens, have access to reliable lighting, thereby improving their quality of life.

In a statement by the principal secretary of the Oníkòyí of Ikoyi-Ekiti, Prince Oluwole Fagbewesa, noted that several residents have benefited from the free provision of solar generators, which has empowered small business owners and households by providing alternative energy sources amid rising electricity challenges.

Chief Aluko’s impact extends beyond Ikoyi-Ekiti, as neighbouring communities, including Ikoyi New Site, Meye, Araromi and Ogbese villages have also benefited from the installation of solar streetlights.

This broader reach has strengthened ties among communities and fostered inclusive regional development.

Beyond infrastructure, Aluko has demonstrated commitment to social welfare.

The statement added that Aluko allocated parcels of land free of charge to members of his church, a gesture widely described as rare and deeply generous.

Residents say these acts of kindness have positioned him as a symbol of hope and selfless service. Many have described his contributions as a model for leadership rooted in compassion and community development.

Stakeholders in the area have called on other well-meaning individuals to emulate such initiatives, noting that community-driven development remains key to addressing grassroots challenges.
