I have been breast feeding my baby for the past 10 months and I am getting tired of the chore. Apart from the fact that the breast milk no longer satisfies my baby, my nipples are getting sore from the endless breast feeding. In addition, I am worried that my breasts will become deformed with the breastfeeding. Kindly advise me on the way forward.

You are not alone in harbouring these anxieties about breast feeding. However, there is nothing as fulfilling for a mother to do as to breast feed her babies for as long as possible. Breast feeding should not be a chore if you have enough breast milk and you are well rested in between breast feedings. Some mothers use breast pump to collect and store enough breast milk in the freezer to maintain their babies with at least one bottle of breast milk a day until the baby is a year old. Yet others start supplementing one formula bottle a day after 6 months just to give themselves a break at night. In addition, when done properly, breast feeding does not harm the breast in any way.
