I aim to take made-in-Nigeria shoes to the global scene ― Itele footwear boss

Agboola Seyi, the founder and creative head of itele footwear, a wholly Nigerian celebrity shoe brand who said he is set to change the narrative of shoemaking business in Africa has given reasons why he believes entrepreneurship is the way forward for dreams actualisation for Nigerian youth.

Speaking with Tribune Online in a recent chat, he stressed that his passion for business made him stop school to start his fledgeling shoe brand.

“I dropped out of school in my first year in the university to start itele footwear, knowing well the school system may not help me in achieving my goals.

“I started the brand with my younger brother in our one-room apartment then and little by little, with dint of hardwork and resilience, we made steady progress. There is always room to grow but if you ask me, I will say itele has been doing well, not only in serving men good looks but also empowering young Nigerians in starting their own brands too”.

Speaking on how he intends to make Nigerian shoes sought after worldwide, he said, “The future for us is taking our shoes to the global scene, we working on it tirelessly in the background and very soon we will lunch our first international store”.

In 2013, the Itele footwear brand drew plenty of attention and Agboola won the award 30under30 for best under age 30 entrepreneurs in Oyo State which was presented to him by Funmi Iyanda.

In 2016, Itele opened a retail store in Ibadan, which some Nollywood stars as patrons and ambassadors. Actors like Adeniyi Johnson, Zack Orji, Funsho Adeolu, Oluwaseyi Edun and many others have been spotted wearing Itele products on the red carpet.
