If you are new to betting, you will soon learn that everybody loves getting in on betting on the NFL. I mean, there is a very high probability that someone in your neighborhood is steadily betting on who scores a TD, who is winning the game or by how many points. Be sure to check out some of the best current NFL odds available now. There are a few key things to know when betting the NFL though. Some terms you will need to make a regular part of your vocabulary if you are below.
Moneyline- This is simple. When you bet on the moneyline, you are simply just picking who wins the game. It doesn’t matter how many points they win by, or how they pull off the win. Just simply win the game. Keep in mind that a really good team is playing a really bad team, the odds will be adjusted based on how good or bad the teams are. If you bet the Buccaneers to win at -200 on the moneyline, then you basically have to risk $2.00 for every $1.00 you want to win.
Point Spread- The point spread is a term you will come to know very well when betting the NFL. You are betting on the victory margin when you are betting the point spread. If the Buccaneers are -5.5 on the point spread, then that means they would have to win by 6 or more points. On the other hand, if the Lions are +5.5 on the spread, then the Lions just need to lose by 5 or less points (or win the game) for you to win that bet.
Totals- This is a bet on the amount of points that is going to be scored in the game. You are picking if the game will go over or under the total points. If the Lions/Buccaneers total is set at over or under 36.5 and you picked the over, then that means 37 points or more would win the bet. If the total was 36 points or less, you would lose the bet.
Props- These types of bets have nothing to do with the outcome of the game but rather betting on a specific player’s production. An example would be something like Jonathan Taylor to score a TD or Justin Jefferson to have over/under 92.5 receiving yards.
You are good to go now! You can start placing some NFL bets like the rest of us are doing! The one thing to keep in mind is that you always want to get the best odds you can get for any particular bet. You also do not want to run into situations where you are chasing bets you have lost to make up for blindly. Always put in some research into what you are betting before you blindly just take any type of bet. I would recommend starting off betting lower amounts and not wagering money on every single game. Pick and choose your bets wisely. Enjoy the ride, because the thrill and excitement of betting on the NFL is as good as it gets!
