The Anambra State Police Command has taken swift action in response to a viral video showing a policeman brutally assaulting a tricycle operator with his AK-47 rifle.
Following public outcry, the command’s spokesperson, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, announced that the officer has been arrested and is undergoing disciplinary proceedings.
Commissioner of Police, CP Nnaghe Obono Itam, has emphasized the need for police personnel to remain calm and professional, even in the face of provocation, and has pledged that the command will not tolerate any form of unprofessional conduct.

The incident is being thoroughly investigated, and appropriate action will be taken to ensure that justice is served.
Ikenga also stated that the command is calling on the victim seen in the video to come forward to assist in the investigation into the assault.
He urged citizens to always respect civil authority and remain law-abiding when interacting with law enforcement agents.
