Two housekeepers, who allegedly stole two bedspreads and a pair of trousers belonging to a retired Assistant Inspector-General of Police (name withheld), were on Wednesday brought before an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court.
The accused’, Olarewaju Lamilokun,20, and Francis Abogunrin, 28, live in Yusuf Estate, Alakuko, a Lagos suburb and they are facing a two-count charge of stealing and conspiracy.
Prosecutor Eruada Victor told the court that the accused committed the offences at their employer’s residence on Jan. 14.
He alleged that the duo stole the items and handed them over to their brother in the village.
“When the complainant (the retired AIG) discovered that the bedspreads and trousers had been stolen, she then reported the case at the police station and the accused were immediately arrested.”
The offences contravened Sections 285 and 409 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.
The duo pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The Magistrate, Mrs G.O. Anifowoshe, granted each of the accused bail in the sum of N10,000 with two sureties, who should show evidence of two years’ tax payment.
The case was adjourned to Feb. 6 for mention.
