Abdul Lateef won the contest by polling 41, 415 votes of the 53, 893 of the total valid votes cast in the contest organised and collated by Centre for Policy Development and Political Studies.
The total votes garnered by the winner represented 76.85 per cent of the total votes, a feat said to be unprecedented in the history of Award.
Abdul Lateef, while expressing his gratitude to Almighty Allah, said he was dedicating the Award to God, to all Lagosians and supporters Worldwide.
The commissioner expressed his gratitude to all supporters and well-wishers in Lagos, Nigeria and abroad, saying, “We are all winners together. ”
The 2018 Award is the 10th Edition of LASMAYA, which started in 2008, as there was no Award in 2010.
According to the organisers, the outcomes of the 2018 Edition are unprecedented in every respect, saying the event witnessed the highest number of participation.

Past winners, according to the organisers were Dr Adebola Ismail Akindele, the former deputy governor, Mrs Adejoke Adefulire, who won the Award in 2009 with a vote of 6, 325, the highest scored by individual nominee before 2018.
