CAN we get to know more about you?
I am Oluwaseun Michael, prominently known in the social circle as Seun Singer. I am from Osun State. I was born in Ijebu and I grew up in that part of the country before advancing to other areas in search of greener pasture. I am now based in Lagos from where I reach out to other places.

Tell us how you got into music
I started from the church, where I played different instruments. I used to perform in various churches, most especially the Anglican churches, and I found out that whenever I performed, people thoroughly enjoyed my performances. From there, I began to develop the passion for music. And as my love for music grew, I became much more determined to make my musical dream come true. Here I am today. I give my God all the glory.
When did you start music professionally?
I started professionally ten years ago and I have my own band. We have been together for a long while now.
How did you get your band together?
You know every project starts with a foundation. I first tried a one-man band for some time. I had a boss, and learnt band management from him. He started with me and three other guys. At some point, we started getting paid. People started inviting us to come and perform at their events and that was where I got the experience to put a band together. And that’s the direction I’ve been going ever since.
What kind of music do you play?
Interestingly, I play all kinds of music. I can sing highlife, hip hop, gospel, even juju. I am an all-rounder kind of artiste and I think that’s one of the things that stand me and my band out. There’s basically no brand or genre of music that I cannot play. I am a blessed artiste.
Have you released any album yet?
Actually, no albums yet because I am trying to be very careful about going to record an album. I have it all worked out already. I’ve got a lot songs that I’ve recorded but I’m only trying to take time. Sure, I’ve got plans, but I want to wait till the right moment comes.
Why did you choose to have a band and not do your own thing solo?
When I was younger, I didn’t realise I could do it all by myself. I felt there was no way I could go about what I wanted to do unless I brought in other people. Believe me, it was really not easy singing on a beat alone because there are some other things you have to put into the music and you may not be able to achieve all that alone. But, even before I formed my own band, I had been used to playing as a live band, and that’s where my strength lies and there’s no way I can be doing live shows without putting a band together.
Who are your role models, or better still, artistes that inspired you musically?
One of my alltime favourite role models is Lagbaja, I love everything about him. He is an enigma. Of course, I also love KSA, Tuface Idibia and several others. But these ones I have mentioned really inspired me. I sing more like King Sunny Ade at events because people love him and still listen to his music till date. He is an evergreen musician.
Where is your base of operation?
Thanks, just like I told you earlier, I am based in Lagos and my boys are everywhere. We come together for rehearsals any time we have events or shows to prepare for. It’s a small team, but people are often amazed at the kind of performance we deliver every time we go on stage.
How soon do you plan to get an album done?
Yes, definitely, I have plans for that. I am presently working on songs that everyone can relate to. I am actually hoping that when I’m ready with the kind of songs I am putting together. Other hip-hop artistes like Davido, Vector, or even Wizkid can jump on the beat and create something great from it. I would really like to work with a whole lot of artistes. I am talking to some of the top artistes in the industry to also feature one of them in it.
