DAREDEVIL hoodlums struck yesterday in the Edo State capital of Benin and kidnapped two Chinese expatriates working with a Glass and Aluminium company in Benin.
A police guard attached to the foreigners was killed during the operation on Wednesday evening at Utesi community, (a suburb of Benin) on the Benin- Auchi road, where their company is located after the close of work.
The victims were said to be on their way home when the gunmen blocked their vehicle and abduct them after killing the security officers attached to them.
A source who refused to disclose his identity said the two Chinese were kidnapped when they came out of the company, after the close of work, by the gunmen who apparently ambushed them.
The source added that the gunmen killed the security officer attached to the victims while shooting sporadically into the air before abducting the victims.
The Edo State Commissioner of Police, DanMallam Mohammed, confirmed the incident, noting that the policeman was killed during the operation by the gunmen.
He said: “The incident was reported to us yesterday. We are working hard to rescue them from the kidnappers.”
Mohammed assured that the perpetrators would be apprehended and made to face the wrath of the law.
