Kebbi State Governor, Nasir Idris has sought the support and cooperation of the African Development Bank (AfDB) towards making Kebbi State an industrial agriculture hub.
Governor Idris is seeking collaboration with the AfDB to harness the potential of the agro-industrialisation programme currently initialed in the state.
Idris alongside six other governors from the northwest geopolitical zone had already arrived in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire in a bid to actualise their target objectives.
The governors included; Lawal Dauda of Zamfara, Ahmed Aliyu of Sokoto, Umar Namadi of Jigawa, Uba Sani of Kaduna, Dikko Radda of Katsina and Kabir Yusuf of Kano State.
The Governors, while in Abidjan will explore the opportunities offered by the agro-industrial processing zones programme, adding that the governors had met with the President of the African Development Bank, Dr Akinwumi Adesina and his team.
The special agro-industrialisation programme aims to achieve food self-sufficiency, create jobs and boost economic growth by processing raw agricultural commodities in areas with high potential.
Those who accompanied Governor Nasir Idris include, the Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Yakubu Bala-Tafida, Chief of Staff, Barrister Attahiru Maccido, Hon. Bello Kaoje, member House of Representatives and some of his commissioners.
