Niger State Governor, Mohammed Umaru Bago, has strongly condemned the recent attack on the Redeemed Christian Church of God (Champion Zonal Headquarters) located along the Federal College of Education (FCE) road in Kontagora. The church was reportedly burned and looted by suspected hoodlums in the early hours of Saturday.
In a press statement issued on Sunday in Minna by the Governor’s Special Adviser on Print Media, Aisha Wakaso, Governor Bago described the attack as both mindless and cowardly. He emphasized that this barbaric act is not only an assault on the Christian community but also a direct affront to the peace and unity cherished in Niger State.
The statement reiterated the government’s total condemnation of the heinous act, assuring the Christian community and all inhabitants of Niger State that their safety, security, and freedom of religion remain a top priority.
“Our state values its diversity and the peaceful coexistence of all religious and ethnic groups. We will not condone this act of violence,” the Governor stated.
