While expressing his displeasure over the results as announced late Monday evening, Isiyaku Gwamna described it as “the worst of its kind in the State and a rape on the collective democracy that this party seeks to protect as a tool to developing of the State and Nigeria in general.”
Isiyaku Gwamna in a press statement issued shortly after the announcement of the primary election results by the Chairman of the committee, Chief Joe Akaka signed by his Media Coordinator, Ibrahim Sani Shawai copies of which were made available to Journalists in Gombe on Tuesday morning declared that the exercise was marred by electoral irregularities.
The statement reads, “We write to completely reject the outcome of the election based on the greatest degree at the desperation and drama of Senator Bayero Nafada in regard to the event that took place yesterday which has been described as the worst of its kind and a rape on the collective democracy that this party seeks to protect as a tool for developing Gombe State and Nigeria in general.”

The KEDC MD further stated that “It was an all clear-cut victory results for Dr Jamil Isyaku Gwamna until the antics of Senator Bayero Nafada, who openly said that anyone who will not vote or publicly support anyone apart from him should be beaten. This is happening in an age where violence is being jettisoned by emerging democracies world over and worst still is the fact that it was being propelled by a serving senator of the federal republic of Nigeria.”
“This disruption of the democratic tentacles upon which our party, PDP stands is an act of robbery and a harbinger of intimidation which could culminate into having a crisis within the party. It is a stolen mandate because the coast was clear for Dr Jamil Isyaku Gwamna, until the thugs of the Senator succeeded in disrupting the business of the day to have a secret meeting of intimidation and alleged cases of vote and conscience buying which resulted to the purportedly fake and cooked up victory of Senator Bayero Nafada,” the statement added.
The statement further contained that the preferred candidate of Governor Ibrahim Hassan Dankwambo has been superimposed on the party using threat and intimidation adding that there was no election because the party delegates were cowed and threatened as many voted against their wishes.
Earlier the Chairman of the gubernatorial primary election Committee, Chief Joe Akaka declared the former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives and now the Senator representing Gombe North Senatorial District, Usman Bayaro Nafada as the winner of the primary election with a total vote of 1,104.
