Foundation empowers widows, youths in Lagos

The Rachel’s Women’s Court Foundation in partnership with St. John’s Foundation has empowered scores of women and widows.

The founder of Rachel’s Women Court Foundation, Evangelist (Mrs) Rachel Abosede Ariyo Oyeniran, announced cash and other gift items including a deep freezer, washing machine, grinding machine, and microwave at the September edition of the women’s programme held at the Christ Apostolic Church, Love of God zone, Mushin, Lagos.

She said, “For the past five years, God has been wholesome. This is a special occasion because new things are happening in the foundation.

“Today, we celebrate our productive partnership with the St. John Foundation. Indeed, this more than two years existing relationship, especially since we met with the chairperson and co-founder of the foundation, in the person of Pastor Orija has been that of growth and development.

“Since 2021, St John Foundation has been beneficial to the Rachel Court in the areas of cash gifts, provision of interest-free loans to widows and women, education support and provision of equipment and financial support for widows.

“The introduction of the St. John’s Foundation to the Rachel’s Women Court has also led to productive partners with other Foundations and individual sponsorship of our projects. We have received support and partnership in areas like business education, healthcare, skill acquisition and others.

“On behalf of myself, the widows and the Board of Trustees of this noble Foundation, Rachel’s Women Court Foundation, I want to say a very big thank you to the St. John Foundation. I am equally extending our sincere appreciation to all the Board of Trustees of this institution and their families. It is a prayer that the Lord will bless them, their works, and their families.”

“Meanwhile, widows have been encouraged to be steadfast in the Lord for the promises of God to be fulfilled in their lives.

Pastor Dr Tunde Orija of the Christ Apostolic Church, Okepopo, Lagos Island, gave the admonition at the empowerment programme.

Orija who is also chairman of St John’s Foundation reminded the widows that being in a state of widowship does not make them less human.

He said, “I encouraged the founder of Rachel’s Women’s Court to stay on the right path so that the foundation will continue to grow. And to the widows, I need to encourage them that their being in the state of widows does not make them less than other women.

“Once they remain in the lord, the promise of God for widows in the bible will be fulfilled in their lives. God has promised to take care of them. He will be the husband and father of the widows.”

Speaking on the partnership between the two foundations, he said, “Actually, I have been a partner to Rachel’s Court for about two years while St. John Foundation has been in existence for about 13 years. At St. John’s Foundation, we look at four principal areas. We support people with small interest-free business loans within 6 months to one year.

“We also give free support for students who want to do WAEC, and JAMB but cannot graduate due to financial constraints. We do medical intervention for emergency medical needs and finally, we empower people with tools and capital to set up businesses to make income for themselves.

“We believe that if we empower women, we have empowered the family and by extension the society. Support for the widows is part of our target group we hope to reach out to and this, we have done here today. We have impacted many lives through our foundations.

“You can tell from the testimonies that were shared by the widows, the foundations have benefited them and raised their means of livelihood to a large extent. Many of them now have their personal businesses and are able to provide for their children and also pay back the interest-free loan we gave to them.”
