The founder of the Professional Excellence Foundation of Nigeria (PEFON) Chief Oladipo Bailey, has explained that the purpose of setting up the body was to celebrate professional excellence and good business ethics among Nigerian professionals, who have distinguished themselves in their chosen career paths.
Making this known, recently in Lagos, at the Foundation’s Lifetime and Investiture Ceremony organised for some prominent Nigerians in Lagos, the former Commissioner for Insurance explained that the need to celebrate professional excellence had become imperative in the country today; to enable the younger ones inculcate the culture of hard-work and professional integrity.
He explained that the foundation had taken it upon itself to recognise some Nigerians who had excelled in their chosen professions; in tune with its avowed objective of ‘seeking ways to develop Nigeria.’
In his remarks at the event, the Chairman, Board of Trustees of the Foundation, Prince Julius Agbelusi explained that the choices of the awardees were arrived at after a careful research, investigation and deliberation on the professional activities of each of the awardees.
He noted that the awardees had displayed exemplary character in their chosen professional paths, adding that the awards would go a long way in serving as an inspiration for others, especially the younger ones.
“We’ve gone to look for people who have made their marks in their chosen professions, men of substance, because those that you call men of substance today are only wealthy, and once you take away the money from them, they look ordinary.
“But this group of people are being celebrated to show to the whole world that we still have people who can excel in their chosen professions, without cutting corners, and which people can emulate,” he stated.
Some of the awardees include Mr Joseph Wigwe, Apostle Hayford Alile, Elder Ugochukwu Okoro and Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, among others.
