There was pandemonium at the venue of a party in Oba Akoko in Akoko South West Local Government Area of Ondo state, when a man stormed the place with a gun and disrupted the party after tracing his girlfriend to the venue of the party.
The incident took the invited guests at the venue of the party by surprise as they ran helter-skelter to avoid being hit by the bullets, while five people were injured in the process.
One of the party guests explained that the incident which happened around 7 pm abruptly ended the party as most of the guests fled the scene immediately.
According to him, “most people believed the attack was carried out by suspected kidnappers or armed robbers, but only to find out that shooting was carried out by one man who traced his girlfriend to the party”
He said the girlfriend was invited to the party by another man, and the boyfriend who resides in Owo had to travel down to Oba Akoko to verify the situation.
He said “the party was going on peacefully while the guests were eating and drinking but suddenly there were sporadic shootings. This scared the party guests and many of them run for safety.”
He said the boyfriend who claimed to be a security officer, threatened to shoot everyone at the party and it took the intervention of the men of the state police command in the area to arrest the boyfriend.
The Divisional Police Officer of Oba Akoko Division, Chief superintendent of Police CSP Kehinde Odebunmi confirmed the incident and said the culprit had been arrested and the case had been transferred to Akure for further investigations.
