The government at both the state and federal level have been urged to prioritise quality in infrastructure development to attract more foreign investors into the country.
This call was made last week by a foreign investor, Mr. Frédéric Bourgault during an industrial tour by the French investor and other team memebers in Nigeria .
Bourgault appealed to the Nigerian government to adopt the approach used in infrastructural projects by some foreign countries like France, emphasising that prioritising quality workmanship is key to avoiding substandard outcomes.
In a statement signed by the Public Relations Officer, Harrison Alonge Foundation, Olawale Ogunyebi, on Monday, the tour, which was held between 26th January 2026 and Friday 30th January, commenced with a visit to the Lekki Conservation Centre, the Atlantic Ocean shoreline, the Dangote Refinery, the French Embassy, and the Nike Art Gallery, in Lagos.

“The Nigerian government should focus more on the quality of infrastructure projects rather than pursuing cheap costs that often result in substandard outcomes.
“In France, we prioritise quality workmanship regardless of cost implications, and Nigeria can benefit greatly by adopting this approach,” he said.
In his remarks, the Chief Executive Officer of the Harrison Alonge Foundation, Mr Harrison Olaniyi Alonge, noted that the tour aimed to expose foreign investors to Nigeria’s economic sectors, cultural heritage, and investment opportunities.
He further added that the organisation is focused on strengthening business ties, diplomatic relations, and development cooperation between the countries
Alonge reiterated the foundation’s commitment to promoting international partnerships to drive economic growth, the creation of employment opportunities and cross-cultural collaboration across Nigeria.
“Our goal is to bridge Nigeria with credible international investors by showcasing not only our industrial capacity, but also our culture, environment, and tourism potential.
“We believe that meaningful development comes from partnerships that are well-informed, mutually beneficial, and rooted in a long-term vision,” Alonge stated.
