THERE are too many channels for earning teaching certificates in the country. They should be streamlined.
This is because they are having negative effects on the standard of education. This accounts for why our children record failures in the examinations conducted by the West African Examinations Council (WAEC), National Examinations Council (NECO) and the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB).
A particular institution in the South-West has its Sandwich programmes spread all over the nooks and crannies of Nigeria and the products are usually not better than they were before the programme.
The students are not given the right training both in content and quality. Most of these institutions are profit-oriented.
The various Sandwich courses and study centres are not really helping matters. They are responsible for the poor performance of students in public examinations.
