Following the protest that erupted in Bayelsa State shortly after the Supreme Court judgement that disqualified the Governor-elect, Chief David Lyon, of the All Progressives Congress (APC), former Governor, Honourable Seriake Dickson, has accused the State Commissioner of Police, Mr Uche Anozia, of deploying policemen that made it possible for hoodlums to destroy public properties, including his home.
The former governor, while commending the supreme court victory for his party in Abuja, through a statement by his media adviser, Mr Fidelis Soriwei, said that what happened that day was the greatest political robberies in electoral history which was masterminded by a collusion of the APC and Federal forces.
In his reaction, CP Anozia, denied the allegation, saying the news came to him as an embarrassment, and that having worked cordially with the outgone governor, nothing could have warranted him to stoop so low to the point of sending hoodlums to attack his house, of which location he never knew.
At a media briefing at the State Police Headquarters, Yenagoa, CP Anozia said “with due respect to the office and person of the ex-governor of Bayelsa state, l had worked with him harmoniously and dispassionately.

“Basically, the duty of the police is to maintain law and order and protection of lives and property. On the 13th of February when the Supreme Court reversed the victory of the APC, there was an eruption of violence and the police went out to control the violence.
” I personally went to the roads moving from one point to another to restore peace and order in Yenagoa. After the first face of patrol, I was here in my office with the 16 Brigade Commander and the DSS Director when we received a distress call that the governor’s house was being attacked and the three of us left to find out the scene of the attack.
“We have to find out where the governor’s house was located because aside from the governor’s house in his village, Toru-orua and the government house, I do not know where his other houses or house was located.
“Through information, we got the house and found out that some destruction had been done by some hoodlums. So I couldn’t have directed anybody to go and destroy properties or kill lives.
“Therefore, this particular information is bitter to the taste and repugnant to my hearing. I never did that and will not do so. I do my job basically with the fear of God. I was properly brought up at home.
“I have always done this job dispassionately without fear or favour. If l may borrow a popular dictum from Mr President, ‘l am for everybody and l am for nobody. I have no interest in any particular person and I am not vindictive.
“I am not privy to the destruction of the property of the ex-governor.
“We also got the information that the house and properties of the current governor who has just been sworn-in were being attacked,” he said.
The CP also revealed that eight suspects were arrested in connection with the attacks, adding that the suspects had been prosecuted and were being remanded.
