Farmers in Adamawa State have received bags of fertiliser from the Federal Government through the Federal College of Animal Health and Production Technology (FCAH&PT), Vom, Plateau State in conjunction with Tencom Integrated Services Limited to boost their production with a view to ensuring food security.
The distribution of the bags of fertiliser was facilitated by the Senator representing Adamawa North Senatorial District in the red chamber of the National Assembly, Senator Amos Yohanna.
A total of 300 farmers from Adamawa North Senatorial District benefited from the fertiliser distributions held at Mubi Adamawa State.
In his remarks at the event, Chairman, Tencom Integrated Services Limited, Mr Abdulrazak Raji, while welcoming farmers, thanked the Federal Government of for providing fertilisers to farmers free of charge in order to boost agricultural production in Adamawa.
According to Raji, fertilisers’ phosphorus content aids in the quicker growth of roots and the formation of seeds in plants. Fertiliser deepens plant roots and boost the ability of plants to hold water. He also stated that plants’ straws and stalks are strengthened by the potassium in the fertiliser.
In his remarks, Provost FCAH&PT, Vom, Dr. Jude Okpara, urged the farmers to make adequate use of the fertiliser in order to get the best result.
