The old students association of the Federal College of Animal Health and Production Technology (FCAH&PT), Moor Plantation, Ibadan, have commenced the process of constructing an alumni building in the school premises so they can continue to contribute to the growth of their alma mater.
Speaking on Friday, during the alumni day of activities which was part of the 60th anniversary of the college, the President of the alumni association, Olufemi Williams Lumpkin, said: “First we are gathered here today to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the college and also to start a building project for the college alumni which is very important.
“The building project is very interesting and important in the sense that since the inception of the college, there has not been any structure for the alumni.
“In most cases, if we come, we just make use of people’s offices to have our meetings. For example, the University of Ibadan has an alumni hostel, so we are thinking of putting this into the system in a way that it will be a haven for every alumni member.”
In his remarks, Provost of the college, Dr Adekoya Owosibo, said: “The alumni building project is a thing that we are happy with. The alumni association has been highly effective, in the first instance, last year, they noted a public toilet facility to us. This facility is open for use to staff, students and the general public.
“After this, they told us they are starting another project. Today, they have laid the foundation for alumni building which is a very good thing. The old students are very wonderful. Even the 60th anniversary that we are celebrating is part of their brainchild. Sincerely they are wonderful.”
The Provost used the opportunity of the occasion to call on other alumni of the college irrespective of their course of study or year of graduation to come and join the alumni association in order to give support to their alma mater.

Owosibo said: “I want to encourage other alumni of the college to please come on board. The alumni association is not only for those who studied animal health and production, it is also for those who studied Fisheries, Computer Science, statistics and other courses the college is offering. The more the merrier, I encourage them to join this moving train.”
The highlight of the event was the donation to the course of the project which members of the alumnus generously contributed to.
