Fans defy heavy rain, besiege Civil Centre for Jumabee Inspires Concert 4

Despite heavy rain that disrupted arrangement and delayed the commencement of the Jumabee Inspires Concert for more than 10 hours, music lovers and fans of Jumabee stood in the rain as they watched some of Nigeria’s reining music artistes perform in style.

The show which held at the Civil Centre, Lokoja, the Kogi State capital drew heavy presence of security operatives as they ensured that safety of lives and property while the show lasted.

The show in its fourth season started very late due to the heavy downpour which wreaked havoc on the stage and disrupted the smooth run of the concert.

The show which was billed to start at 5:30 pm didn’t begin until 11 pm but the organizers, led by the project manager, Dami Adenuga ensured that fun and excitement promised that show has been accustomed was well served by every artiste who mounted the stage to thrill their fans.

From Oritsefemi who rocked the stage with some of his hit singles, including Double Wahala to Portable whose performance was rated as top notch as he thrilled the audience with some of his popular songs like Zazu and ‘I’m Not A Prisoner’, the self acclaimed street king matched his energy with that of the audience who kept asking for more.

There were artistes who lived up to expectations of their ecstatic fans with the like of CDQ, Tolibian, Lade showing the people of Kogi that they meant business and proved why they merited the positive attention and recognition currently trialing their music career.

With DJ Baddo and DJ Khoded handling the music affairs on the night while Big Smart and Boltagethehype anchoring the event, the show might have started on the bad footing but it sure ended on a sweet note.

Speaking about their experience, especially on how the show was delayed and how the challenges were conquered, Adenuga appreciated the governor of the state for his support for the event and extended his gratitude to the orgnisers for standing with them despite the issues they had.

“I think we should just thank the people of Lokoja for standing with us and defying the heavy rain that destroyed banners, lights on the stage and left us wondering if the show would still hold.

“As at 5p:m, event had started and young artistes took to the stage to showcase their talent but some minutes later, the rain started pouring and was chorused by wild wind. It rained till 10 pm and all banners, TV screens and lights were damaged. But God came through for us and the show went well after the rain as the people stood all night and showed us massive love and support. I was moved to tears seeing how much love we were shown by the people of Kogi and I am certain that next year will be a bigger and better one for us.”
