The cultural promotion and tourism marketing agency in Ibadan, known as Imperial House of Culture, under the leadership of Erelu Asa of Yoruba land, Duchess Funmi Roitiba, who recently endorsed the participation of orphans to tour Africa.
Tour Africa, as a brand initiated to promote the socio-cultural beauty in Africa through beauty pageants, to ignite the world about the unique tourism attraction and to encourage the international relation among the African countries in respect to peaceful co-existence.
Rotiba in her opening speech disclosed that “Tour Africa is basically for orphans to experience the beauty of African tourism sites and artifacts. It is aimed at increasing the consciousness of people towards the growth and development of tourism.
“Tourism is life. One of life most beautiful gifts is the ability to tour. Many countries across the globe depend solely on tourism. In fact for African countries to survive in the absence of mineral resources, then tourism needs to be embraced.
“We deliberately focus on orphans for the promotion of tourism, we need to start focusing on the needy in the society. We need to be voices for the voiceless, weak and oppressed. It is not enough to donate food and other items to them, but the need to educate them should be part of the priorities. They need to not just to live, but to live properly,” she concluded.
